[Well, at least fourth wall shenanigans hurt their brain a little less. Sans mentioned that the network was on the fritz so it isn't much of a surprise that they'd get another taste of it.]
I believe you meant to send that to someone else, didn't you?
[It's not really something that requires words, or even a note left to ensure the gift giver is identified. There's not many people who have access to their apartment; even less who would know the difference between two blank rooms, both as neatly made as the other, both lacking much in the way of identification when both children are out.
So where the coloring book and assortment of crayons and pencils have come from is really not all that questionable- but they do hope Chara likes it anyway.
[It's...odd to get gifts. And they don't have to ask who it is from. They know because only one person knows when they don't have the door locked, when to wait to place it in their room without Chara knowing about it.
It's touching in a way they hadn't felt in a long time.
They take only one page out of the book to draw a picture. One of two red hearts together. A rainbow of purple and blue, green and yellow. And the idea of hope.
It's left on their bed to be found whenever they do. Thank you, partner.]
[It's not much. He really don't know what else to do, in the wake of everything. He can't offer much other than bad laughs and good food. Good friends, though? Heh. Don't make him laugh.
Chances are he's gonna regret this. But he can just tack this one onto the long list of regrets he's already got. What's one more, yeah?
So there's somethin' in a tupperware container outside the door to the place Chara shares with Frisk and Asriel. Tacked to the outside is a note:]
* apostrophe-dog. * it's short for hot-dog. * heals 20 hp.
[And within?
It's a water sausage in a bun slathered with ketchup, just like the ones he'd hawk to passers-by Underground. Made from magic, full-stop; it won't spoil, it'll always be hot, and it'll restore HP like any other healing item.
He ain't used to doing much. But considering how he wasn't doin' much besides lying on the couch and surveying the ceiling, it's maybe the least he could do. Maybe it means Frisk won't have to go to such, uh...extreme lengths this time.
Frisk hasn't been up for much, but... they can't let that stop them. They can never, ever, let that stop them. Chara isn't here, but they still get up every day. They get dressed. They have breakfast and they make enough for lunch that Asriel can't go hungry in their absence, and they leave. To clean, to wander, to- something. Stay determined. Stay determined. Stay determined stay determined stay-
The tip of their shoe hits the container and almost sends it skittering down the staircase. It takes Frisk a good while to react past the initial downward tilt of their head, looking at the post-it note and not taking the words in,
taking the words in.
A few minutes later, they're sneaking back into the apartment. Chara's room is- it feels like it's something out of bounds. The atmosphere past the wooden door is cold, unwelcoming, and despite an immediate sense that they need to backtrack, because they aren't welcome here, Frisk enters all the same.
And leaves the container, post-it note and all, on their bed.
When they come back, they're going to need it a lot more than Frisk does.]
It is a picture of a skeleton, buried up to his neck in sand. Seems the illusion carries all the way into photographs, and hopefully, it'll stay that way.
He looks like he's having fun.
The picture has aptly been titled; 2 much Sands, 2 little time.]
[Frisk will receive a reply soon enough, once Chara is done laughing the photo. Also it is nice that the both of them were getting along - or at least enough that Sans would allow himself to be buried alive.]
[In regards to certain issues with sweets and water, there's one child who may not put it past their partner to be tricking more than one person at the same time. That, or things have wildly escalated out of control more rapidly than expected.
It calls for some radical action.
In this case, the prankster in question is well aware that a loud trick probably doesn't belong in this household. Something quieter, but no less visible, is always great.
So you know. Enjoy your hot new look, courtesy of the inane shampoo bottle everyone's been using for the past week. Did they ever tell you that purple is your color, Partner?]
[So it actually takes Chara a bit to notice their brand-new look because they're one of those people who don't wipe the mirror when they're drying their hair. It's only once Chara gets back to their room that they notice the purple.
They hope to god it washes out. The shampoo bottle winds up pinned to Frisk's door with a (fake) knife. It is on.
So there's four small bags of jellybeans on the kitchen table, one per person in the household. They're flavored ones too! So there's good stuff like cherry, coconut, watermelon and so on inside.
Except for Frisk's. Their flavors are a bit more....interesting. And don't worry Partner, they made sure all of them are the "unique tasting" ones. Hopefully they don't take a handful.
But just in case Frisk doesn't like jellybeans or is smart enough not to fall for it, Chara sets up another trick. Since Frisk decided to give them a hot new look, Chara decides to give them a new smell. Namely one of those boolean cubes winds up in the shower head.
They are willing to go over to the next empty place to shower until this plays out. Your move Frisk.]
[He made a little deal not too long ago. It took some time for him to have the, uh, requisite motivation to make good on what he never promised, but given the star-speckled ceiling, maybe this came along at the right time. Little pieces of the Underground seeping in, bit by bit. He had to arrange things carefully, and he ain't much of a gardener, but luckily the flowers themselves are fairly prolific on their own. Don't require much watering, or even sunlight to flourish, just as they didn't Underground. Naturally invasive species, maybe.
They're pretty enough that he's thinkin' people won't much mind
A small crop of them starts to take root in the orchard, blanketing the ground in golden sprigs. The air around them almost feels warmer by association.]
hey, kid. you busy? got something for ya out in the orchard.
[So after the absolute disaster that was their last conversation, Chara's...not exactly surprised he's still contacting them. He made it clear he disagreed with their line of thinking regarding certain things but would continue to move on.
Interesting, to have those roles reversed.
But they can't just stare at this text forever. Chara hasn't been going outside much lately for...a reason they don't want to get into either. But it's probably an obvious one. So while there is a delay in their response, they still do respond.]
Hi Chara. I wanted to just call and apologize. I'm sorry that you witnessed the very obvious results of my poor choices. I'm afraid I don't remember too much but I do remember that you stayed on the phone with me until Sans got there.
